Despite the economic chill felt nationally and globally, Jakarta is staying hot. Governor Pramono Anung is optimistic about the city’s economic trajectory, noting that macro indicators are looking better than ever.
Maintaining this optimism is vital in today’s climate
Speaking at the "Jakarta Budget Talks" forum themed “Navigating Jakarta’s Budget: Strengthening Performance, Safeguarding Public Interest,” the Governor shared positive news from the City Hall.
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), Jakarta’s macroeconomics and overall performance—including growth, inflation rates, and other key indicators—are showing consistent improvement," he stated, Wednesday (7/22).
Level Up Jakarta! Pramono Invites Everyone to Crush the Economic Census 2026Pram called on all stakeholders to collaborate in maintaining the current economic momentum, noting that Jakarta accounts for a significant 16.67 percent of Indonesia's national economy.
In the first quarter of 2026, Jakarta recorded a robust economic growth of 5.59 percent year-on-year (yoy). This performance was driven by a surge in trade activity, household consumption, and public mobility, alongside sustained business sentiment.
"Maintaining this optimism is vital in today’s climate, especially as we navigate the challenges of global uncertainty," he added.
He highlighted trade as the city’s biggest contributor (18.06%), with financial services and manufacturing following closely behind.
The real stars of growth, however, are the hospitality and F&B sectors, which soared by 10.84%. Logistics and other services also showed strong performance, each growing by over 8%.
On the financial front, Jakarta is managing its Rp 81.32 trillion budget with precision. By the end of Q2, the city had already secured 41% of its revenue target (Rp 29.29 T). Spending is also moving steadily at 33.3% of the target, ensuring that public services and infrastructure projects continue to roll out.
"We have already finalized 118,161 procurement packages, keeping our development targets on schedule," he added.
To ensure immediate public benefit, Pramono is pushing for the rapid completion of Jakarta’s procurement packages. He stressed the importance of steady budget absorption throughout the year to prevent backloaded spending in December.
"The time to act is now," he urged his staff this July.
Key highlights of Jakarta’s economic health:
